Bad Quality with phone calls

Hi there,

I am currently running ViciDial
VERSION: 2.6-372a
BUILD: 120713-2123

My computer specifications are Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6700 @ 2.66GHz
RAM: 2GB (I have no idea what is frequency of memory)
HDD: Seagate Barracuda ST500DM002 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB
No RAID

When I have 25 agents on this server we experience poor quality. We cannot hear the other person on the phone as the calls go in and out and have static. I am thinking of installing more RAM to fix this issue. I have delayed recordings to 16.65 minutes and usually after this time the calls go bad.

Please let me know what the best move is.

Please post your installation method in case there is a challenge that is installation related. You also did not post the number of processors (2 vs 4 makes a pretty big difference).

Note that the "rule of thumb" is 25 agents per server. Adding more RAM is not likely to resolve overload issues, but adding a 2nd server may very well solve your problem.

It is also possible you are running low on bandwidth. How much bandwidth do you have available? (upload and download speed both count, the lower one may limit your calls in uncompressed ulaw to 10 calls per meg, roughly)

Check htop for average serverload. If you have a 4 processor system, your average serverload should not exceed 2.0. And if any of your individual processors ever hits 100% (in the graphic chart on the top left in htop), it should not stay there for more than one or two seconds.
