Hi Everyone,

I am looking to install the new version of VICIDIAL on brand new server. If anyone could give me a rough idea how many agents I would be able to handle on this one server using VOIP, the codecs ulaw and current bandwidth is 20mbps. I'm looking to handle 100 agents.

Server Specs :

ProLiant DL320e Gen8 1U RM Xeon QC E3-1240v2 $3,226.24
3.4GHz(x1) / 32GB DDR3 / 4x3.5" HP Bays / 2xPCIe /
GNIC / 350W

3X500GB SATA 6Gb / s 7.2K rpm LFF 3.5" SC Midline
Hard Drive

If you check all the relevant posts, you will find that the rule of thumb is 25 agents per dialer. Note that you may add up to 64 processors on a single machine, but the definition of "single machine" means there is still only one front side bus and one drive controller. That being said, if you have to plan this before launch to be safe, you do not want one monster machine to try to fit all your people into it. You want four dialers and one DB/Web or four dialers and one DB and one Web (and one archive).

Also worthy of note is that your DB server should have 15K SAS RAID10 or SSD drives. If you decide against 15K SAS RAID10 or SSD drives for now, remember that you will be changing your mind around 150 agents for outbound autodialing. At the very least 15k or SSD (for the speed of throughput) and a good backup system for the DB (perhaps a spare drive fully installed and log shipping on the DB server for ease of recovery with no loss).
