Hi everyone

I installed a vicidial system, and change the language applying the files preinstaled in the system for change it to spanish. After see the translation I found that it's necesary make a proper translation to spanish because some words although have a spanish equivalent, the terms does not match with the commonly used words in VoIP or Call center enviroment. That's generating confusions to the final users and maintenance people so I'm in the process to correct this issue.

In the wiki Ifound that it's necesary modify the files "es_agc.txt" and "es_vicidial.txt" for update the translation but I don't know how to apply this corrections to my final system

Thanks williwmconley for your assistance. According to the post which you refer, and the following one - viewtopic.php?t=19565 - I did the following procedure

Update the files "es_language.txt" and "es_language_admin.txt" located in /usr/src/astguiclient/trunk/translations
Locate the shell in: /usr/src/astguiclient/trunk
Execute the command : perl /usr/share/astguiclient/build_translation_www_files.pl --language=es

It seeems that was OK because it was working during about two hours building new files, describing in general terms the following process:

... first was displayed information from the translation files, then ...

# File exists: ./vicidial/xxxx.xx
# Lang Directory exists: /srv/www/htdocs/vicidial_es
# File written: /srv/www/htdocs/vicidial_es/xxxx.xx

.. this procedure occurs iteratively for each of the files named inside the language files

After replace the contents of the folder /srv/www/htdocs/vicidial_es and /srv/www/htdocs/agc_es, into the folders /srv/www/htdocs/vicidial and /srv/www/htdocs/agc, there is no changes in the GUI.

Where are located the new language building for apply it to the GUI? or Which is the next step to apply the new language building?

I'm not sure it's possible to overwrite the agent screen file without change the agent screen. I see a few possibilities here, though:

1) Your agent should log out and back in to get the new screen.
2) You left off the actual filenames and one of them should be the agent screen, but since you did not include any ... I certainly am not prepared to assume that /srv/www/htdocs/agc/vicidial.php was overwritten with a new file.
3) It's also possible (I suppose) that the translation failed and the end file is still in English for some reason (did you ... look?)

As a side note, it is not actually a good idea, IMHO, to overwrite the English Agent screen. Better to alter your "welcome.php" to point the agents to the Spanish page instead of the English. This allows a failsafe "go back" to the English screen in case of technical difficulties.

Best practice is probably to include the English and Spanish links both in the Welcome screen. Not necessarily just if you have a multilingual call center, but specifically for troubleshooting purposes. Name them according to how you want them used. I'm not sure what the Spanish phrase for "Agent Login" would be, but it would be more likely clicked on than the English phrase by someone who speaks Spanish, I'm guessin'.

I replaced the content in ./agc and ./vicidial folders with the content of the folders ./agc_es and ./vicidial_es, because is the way that I found to change the agents and administration GUI to a new language. This procedure works fine, and provide both links that you recommend - english & spanish - there is no matter with it.

What I'm trying to do is change so many words in the Admin and Agents GUI that were translated from english to spanish with a dicctionary definition, because many of them don't represent the common jargon of the call centers (in spanish). The modifications done in the language files recommended (es_language.txt and es_language_admin.txt )are not applied to the updated system.

I think it's necesary do this modification for two reasons:
* The system will be easily deployed in production enviroments when agents and supervisors who speaks spanish are required.
* For the sake of the crowd. To benefit the Vicidial community it's necesary correct this issues and include it in future distributions.

After review the actual spanish version, we found that the agents GUI were corrected by human translators in previous versions so it requires few updates, instead the administrator GUI requires a huge modification because it's faraway of the expected (I refer only to the language used in it - the application surpassed our expectations. ).

We are considering about our correction of this issues that is necesary send it to the administrators, because that make us part of the Vicidial project and give us confidence to consider upgrade our systems with an application that is upgrading with us.
