OK, i just tried to download the ISO for vicidial for 5.0.3 (asterisk version 1.8) But i am having a huge issue with it connecting to my voip provider, and i was hoping someone would be able to give me a hand

So i was hoping i could get a hand on this.

Let me go over the issue, i seem to have things installed, i did the patch for 5.0.3 with change the zypper links. So my calls are not coming and i really want to get asterisk 1.8 working. So here is some CLI output and sip show peers and dial plan
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////CLI SPAM//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Maybe Xcast is different to xcast.

Thanks for the help, i changed that around but still the same issue, however i do want to point out that when i do a sip reload from the CLI, i did get this error

Reloading SIP
[Jan 25 07:29:49] ERROR[1973]: netsock2.c:269 ast_sockaddr_resolve: getaddrinfo("dialer2.dialer2", "(null)", ...): Name or service not known
[Jan 25 07:29:49] WARNING[1973]: acl.c:590 resolve_first: Unable to lookup 'dialer2.dialer2'
[Jan 25 07:29:49] WARNING[1973]: chan_sip.c:27728 handle_common_options: Unknown directmedia mode 'auto' on line 16

I am sure this is related to the issue i have. I installed 4.0.3 several times and never had these issues.

i know this is more of some kind of networking issue, but i can not find a way to fix it. I have searched and searched the web to resolve this, and yet to figure it out. If anyway can help with this, let me know.

When I am installing Vicibox, you are prompted to enter the hostname, I entered our website instead of any hostname that I like. Before I just enter any name when I tried to re-install the server for testing purposes I entered our website then error goes out.

go to yast lan and change your hostname 'dialer2.dialer2' to a real one like vicidial.org

Ok, now i am only getting this error [Jan 27 07:52:35] Reloading SIP
[Jan 27 07:52:35] WARNING[1861]: chan_sip.c:27728 handle_common_options: Unknown directmedia mode 'auto' on line 16

but i am still having a issue with
[Jan 24 08:28:44] ERROR[3324]: netsock2.c:269 ast_sockaddr_resolve: getaddrinfo("Xcast", "(null)", ...): Name or service not known
[Jan 24 08:28:44] WARNING[3324]: chan_sip.c:5866 create_addr: No such host: Xcast
[Jan 24 08:28:44] WARNING[3324]: app_dial.c:2345 dial_exec_full: Unable to create channel of type 'SIP' (cause 20 - Subscriber absent)
[Jan 24 08:28:44] == Everyone is busy/congested at this time (1:0/0/1)

I thought that the 2 might be related, but i am now guessing that is not so much the case

Code: Select all
[Jan 24 08:28:44] ERROR[3324]: netsock2.c:269 ast_sockaddr_resolve: getaddrinfo("Xcast", "(null)", ...): Name or service not known
[Jan 24 08:28:44] WARNING[3324]: chan_sip.c:5866 create_addr: No such host: Xcast

The hostname ('Xcast') you have used in your peer definition for your SIP VoIP carrier is not correct. It should be an internet routable IP address or a fully qualified hostname. You should have some paperwork/email/etc from your VoIP carrier that states what settings they want you to use.

Could you go into a bit more detail on that please. One 4.0.3 the set up worked fine, but it does not seem to work this way. so when you say peer definition where would that be located or would that be placed Carrier Name?

Admin -> Carriers. -> (Name of your Carrier) -> Account Entry

For example here's my account entry for Node4 in the UK.

Code: Select all
[node4]
type=peer
insecure=invite
nat=yes
host=sip.node4.co.uk
qualify=yes
canreinvite=no
dtmfmode=rfc2833
disallow=all
allow=alaw
allow=ulaw
context=trunkinbound

The bit you have wrong is the host= line.

Xcast uses the strait ip addresses for the host, that is what i used on 4.0.3 and it worked fine. So host=38.102.250.50 is what xcast wants set for the host.
