Upgrading (or moving?) from Vicibox 3.1 to ViciBox 5.0.3?

Postby pahonen » Tue Jan 28, 2014 7:37 am

Hi all,

We are planning to upgrade our current Vicidial environment to the level of newest ViciBox. Currently we are running Vicidial version 2.6-393a on two dialers and a separate webserver and a database server.

However, because of the major changes in Vicibox (Asterisk 1.8, MariaDB etc) I guess there is really no efficient way to do the upgrade just by running some scripts? :) I'd be very pleased to be proved wrong, though.
Also, the fact that we have spread the vicidial around our server room into different servers might not make the process any easier?

Are there any conversion or export/import tools available to haul all the currently running campaigns and DIDs and ingroups etc to the new box?

I'm all ears!

Vicibox 3.1.15 / .iso - VERSION: 2.6-393a - BUILD: 130124-1721 - Asterisk version: 1.4.38-vici

I opted for a complete rebuild when I migrated here. I previously had two standalone Vicidial installs, one running Vicibox v3 and one running Vicibox v4 (we used to have two physical sites). What I did was:

  • Bought two new servers. One for DB, one for Telephony. Then created a basic cluster.
  • I recreated the campaigns from the Vicibox v4 machine on the new cluster.
  • I moved the relevant agents over to the cluster.
  • I backed up and formatted the Vicibox v4 machine and added it to the cluster as an extra telephony server.
  • I then recreated the campaigns from the Vicibox v3 machine on the cluster.
  • I moved the rest of the agents over to the cluster
  • I then backed up and formatted the Vicibox v3 machine and added it to the cluster as another telephony server.

Now this isn't probably what you wanted to hear. However if you can live without MariaDB and Asterisk 1.8 you can just do a SVN upgrade and I think it would work.
