Voice Mail Login Issues

I am experiencing really flakey login issues when trying to authenticate to voicemail boxes from remote phones. So here is an example scenario -

1) Personal logs into astgui using a remote phone, such as their NEC Digital phone at their desk
2) VICI calls the phone and the person answers and get's the usual "You are the only person in this conference..."
3) Person goes to dial override and dials 8500
4) VICI prompts person for mailbox number
5) Person enters mailbox number followed by # sign
6) VICI prompts person for password
7) Person enters password followed by # sign

What I am finding is that this rarely works, ie you end up with incorrect login error

However, if I try from a different phone, ie using a remote cell phone it seems to work more often than not. Is the system that sensitive to tones? I talked to Michael C about this and he seems to think it is a tone quality issue. Any other thoughts on this? Also, is there is better way to go about accessing the voice mails remotely?

Checking VM via 8500 is NOT meant to be done while logged in to an agent session. Just pick up the phone and dial 8500.

Got it, that works better! So now my problem is that when I pick up the phone and dial 8500 and login the call will go for twenty 20 seconds exactly and then everything goes silent. It appears that the phone is still connected to the voicemail... Is this a potential problem with the phone config or am I still doing something wrong...

Also, it should be noted that I tried from phones that agents use for 15 hours a day everyday and they still go silent after 20 seconds.

Are you saying that VM works ... and then (while listening to messages) it suddenly goes silent? Or that you tray for 20 seconds, fail, and then it goes silent?

Show an example of asterisk cli output when this occurs (not 3000 lines of unrelated code, but the entire call for this test).
