Link Vicidial and .htpasswd

Ideally I would want to somehow link the .htaccess to vicidial so only a level 9 user can browse it. The workaround I have found was to make an .htaccess file and a .htpasswd file. I am trying to figure out though if I can link the .htaccess to the http session that vicidial uses for users to login so I don't need to .htpasswd.
