Ubuntu 14.04 Scratch install issue

Hi,

I've done a scratch install with Ubuntu 14.04 as OS and latest Vicidial via SVN 2.8-440a. On boot I get 9 screens, and then 10. After about 2 minutes I check again and was down to 2 screen! Why are they disappearing?

Thanks

Check your logs, you'll probably find that processes are failing.

More importantly: You did not list the installation instructions you used. Thus, it would not be possible for anyone to share the flaw in those instructions. A link to them if they are not online. If they are NOT online, put them on so we can see them and help you find the flaw(s).

We are in the midst of upgrading our Ubuntu install from 12.04LTS to 14.04LTS. So we have a technician paying attention to this right now. :)

which version is more stable vicibox on opensuse or scratch on ubuntu LTS?

Define "Stable"?

But the answer to the question is Vicibox (which is Vicidial on OpenSuSE). This has thousands of test installs across the globe all reporting back here to Kumba who maintains the distro.

dongle does not run in vicidial. It runs in Asterisk. Get it to work with asterisk ... and vicidial can "use" this new resource. asterisk forums are also much larger (wider audience) than Vicidial.

vicidial works with dongle in manual dial mode but not in autodial

here is my topic

I will be very grateful if you can look at my problem.

Hi all..

Has the guide to 14.04 PDF been released yet? Or does anyone have a basic installation guide for updated versions of ubuntu?

All guides I have found so far end up stumbling at the ztdummy part so end up with MeetMe missing (from what I can tell - thats kinda important!)

I'm using a dedicated server which has the options of

CentOS 6 minimal system (64-bit)
CentOS 6 with Parallels Plesk 12 (64-bit)
CentOS 7 minimal system (64-bit)
Debian 7 minimal system (64-bit)
openSUSE 12.3 minimal system (64-bit)
openSUSE 13.1 minimal system (64-bit)
openSUSE 13.1 with Parallels Plesk 12 (64-bit)
Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS minimal system (64-bit)
Ubuntu Server 14.04 LTS minimal system (64-bit)

.. I've tried a few of them now!

Thanks for any advice.

K.

Thanks for the response!

I did find the installer yesterday but it was for 11.1? Did I find an old installer? Do you have a link to the newer one?

Thanks

Easiest method is to use CentOS and install with instructions for Goautodial.

Note that while goautodial does have a bunch of wizards and logos and such that seem to get in the way, Vicidial IS installed and present and stock. You can find the link to the stock vicidial pages and safely ignore goautodial (but if you like one or two of the wizards ... they're handy sometimes). Just remember that if you upgrade using this scenario, any of the goautodial altered/created files are quite likely to break. So don't be dependent upon them if you intend to upgrade.

Make no mistake, goautodial is stable and a valuable installation method for Vicidial. Especially under these circumstances. And MUCH easier than a manual installation.

Which document your using for the Ubuntu setup.

instead of zaptel install dahdi available form asterisk.org
replace ztdummy with dahdi_dummy

Oops, I meant to mention that ... thanks for helping!

FYI: I believe later versions of dahdi have dummy built-in (no need for addition of the dummy module).

But still, a lot of work to go through if you have the Option of CentOS and using Goautodial. Gardo already did all the work. And it's free.

The only reference I can find to the installing from CentOS base is this:

godial site //projects/goautodialce/wiki/64bit

However - that is only for CentOS 5... which I've tried on the base CentOS 6 I can install but tons of dependency problems.

I've done tons of manual installs on Ubuntu so I don't mind doing that again or even applying that to another distro... but they all seem too new to use with the old documentation.

Thanks again

Also, regarding the Ubuntu install and using dahdi instead... will the sterisk-1.4.39.1-vici compile MeetMe with dahdi installed using the dahdi-complete package? Is that how most people manage this?

Thanks

dahdi will work with any version of asterisk.

for the vicidial scratch insallation in centos 6.5 i follow the http://www.ray-solomon.com/vicidial.html but the site seems down/suspended
below is the copy of the same tutorial

Gardo's wiki on goautodial.org and/or .com will have the method to "just update via repositories" after a base OS installation. IE: Install the OS, assign his repositories ... updgrade ... *poof* you have Vicidial (hidden behind some goautodial screens, but it's still there nonetheless and stable and upgradeable). Just find the welcome.php page and you're in Vicidial instead of Goautodial.

Here are the URLs for Vicidial in GOautodial CE:

http://$IP_address/vicidial/admin.php
http://$IP_address/agc/vicidial.php

Always been there (since the beginning circa 2006). :)

And we're currently working on having GOautodial running on CentOS 7 (currently it's based on CentOS 5.10). When done, should be easy to install as with CentOS 5.10. Just a "yum install goautodial-ce" on top of a running CentOS 7.

Hahaha! Right where it's suppose to be:

http://$IP_address/vicidial/welcome.php

So I guess Kelerion's only problem is that you skipped CentOS 6. Probably just to mess with him.

Thats it... didn't have an option there!

On the plus side... Striker's CentOS manual install seems to have gone relatively well... still got some kinks to work out but the base install is all there...

Thanks for all the help guys!

one of those kinks? It's won't call the agents phone when the agent logs in! lol

All I get in the log is "Manager 'sendcron' logged on" ... I can call each agents phone manually in their softphone...

console dial <ext> does work through... so not sure whats not being told to dial it!

Hmmm... can't figure what to check next....

have run this command at last step before rebooting...
/usr/share/astguiclient/ADMIN_update_server_ip.pl --old-server_ip=10.10.10.15

and also update the asterisk version as 1.8 in ADMIN--- server-- asterisk version from 1.4... to 1.8
submit

and againg SET Y for rebuild conf files and submit and check by logging in as agent.

The *only* thing that comes up in the CLI is:

== Manager 'sendcron' logged off from 127.0.0.1

That happens each time I log in without fail - but nothing else.

Are all your screens running?

screen -list

Does your server know it's own IP address? It should be listed in astguiclient.conf and in admin->servers and also admin->phones for each phone

Check the asterisk manager table to see if the entry was made. Then run the manager script to see if it fails or just ignores the entry. ;)

Just to let everyone know - after the reinstall it was all working as expected. I missed a step during the manual reinstall.

The "copy sample files" step is important even though the default is "no".

As far as I can tell anyways.

Thanks for the help guys.
