RAID status REBUILD

Postby boiken » Thu Nov 06, 2014 3:20 am

Hello
I had a power outage and my server show the status of the RAID (Rebuild).
My RAID is RAID1 with 2 x 500 GB HDD SATA.I have a hardware RAID(SuperMicro Server).

My server runned in Emergency mode too.i made a fsck of the filesystem with a Rescue CD.
Now the system starts normaly (not in emergency mode).

But only the light of one HDD flashes.(i think the RAID is not ok)

Any idea about this????

This is what it shows on the CLI after typing the command dmraid -s and dmraid -r

ViciSrv:~ # dmraid -s
*** Group superset isw_cgcebfaccj
--> Subset
name : isw_cgcebfaccj_RAID0-SRV
size : 976766592
stride : 128
type : mirror
status : nosync
subsets: 0
devs : 2
spares : 0

ViciSrv:~ # dmraid -r
/dev/sdb: isw, "isw_cgcebfaccj", GROUP, ok, 976773165 sectors, data@ 0
/dev/sda: isw, "isw_cgcebfaccj", GROUP, ok, 976773165 sectors, data@ 0

Using the built in RAID on motherboards is not recommended. It is really only there to provide RAID capabilities to Windows systems. Linux's MD Raid is far more reliable, fault tolerant, and performs better if you cannot afford a real hardware caching raid card. I recommend checking on the OpenSuSE forums to see if someone there has any recommendations. Vicibox is built using OpenSuSE so any information you find there should work with Vicibox.
