Speed dial

I just performed an update to the latest trunk (on a single server system originally installed with Vicibox) and was expecting 'EXTERNAL' phones to act as speed dial but they don't seem to. I've tried to reapply an old patch I'd made that added extra entries to extensions-vicidial.conf to make those externals dial outside numbers but it doesn't appear to work anymore. Rather than fixing it I did a bit of research here and found this old thread that suggest it should work: viewtopic.php?p=44648 . Can anyone corroborate?

To be clear, I want to pick up any phone hooked up to Vicidial, dial (for example) 2155 and have that extension call my cell phone directly. I'm fully able to use 'EXTERNAL' phones to reach agents, just not as a speed dial :/

Can you show an asterisk CLI from one that still works? (And if there's any output, also one that does NOT work). Consider sip debug in case there's a "stopping point" somewhere in a sip handshake.

I was under the impression that such things MUST be initiated by the phone. Did the phone change?

Also: Please avoid use of "The Latest Version" since that has changed since your post. Please ALWAYS post your Vicidial Version with Build. Always. 8-) (plus your installation method with version never hurts either ...)

version was (and still is o.O ) 2.12-505a build 150806-1348 and the original install was done with Vicibox some years ago. Since none of them work I can't provide a functional output. The phones haven't changed. If i dial an external extension, it just says extension not found :(

ADMIN_keepalive_all.pl doesn't seem to generate dialplan extensions for external entries, which is what my custom patch used to do.

You could always try adding custom dialplan entries in System Settings for your speed dials.

That's what I ended up doing, but having those entries auto-generated would be simpler for my clients. Might be a feature to consider in the future. If I end up custom coding something I'll post it here for QA/review if anyone's interested.

Bobchaos, I had created a DropList and activated it. Had created a new list and put the list Id in the DropList.
The DropList does say it run xyz date time but I see no data in the target list.
We do have drop calls but not logged.

Got it working. I forgot to activate the drop list.
Note: the DropList needs to be activated. The target list does not need to be activated.
