What to tweak in CentOS for Vicidial scratch install

Hello,
We usually use Vicibox (opensuse) for installing Vicidial to our clients. However, as many of you know, usually newer servers have a hard time recognizing hardware when using any other Linux distro which isn´t RedHat based, so that includes Vicibox.
I´ve heard there are several factors to move from Ubuntu or CentOS to OpenSuse. However, in my case, it is not possible to use OpenSuse due to hardware constraints.
Currently I´m having load issues in a server which should be able to handle more agents that it is currently handling and I want to make sure that first I can tweak the OS to behave more like a Vicibox based install should behave, so I´m wondering if there´s a list of values that can be tweaked inside CentOS so that it behaves as OpenSUSE, thus giving me the same thing as if I installed Vicibox.
I remember Matt once told us some of the reasons for the move during a training session, but so far I can´t find any trace of that information. Is there anything I can check inside CentOS to improve the Vicidial general performance?
BTW, I´m using Centos 6.5.
Regards,
