Rapidly climbing server load on Web Server

Hello,

We noticed the other day that the load on our web server had climbed to some pretty ridiculously high numbers. Based on our hardware stats and number of agents dialing this load seemed to be impossible.

We are also using the Web Server as our archive server and we do record every call which I know requires some intensive processing.

I tried shutting down the vsftpd service and the server load immediately fell to acceptable levels.

Is there something I missed where the web server/archive server should not be on the same machine?

How can I mitigate this?

P.S. Our business requires that we record every call start to finish... there is no way around this.

There can be filesystem processes that happen on an archive server that can cause very high load at times. We usually don't recommend having a high-volume recording system use the archive for anything but archiving. One easy solution for you is just to add another web server, you can have as many as you like in a Vicidial cluster.

I had thought that might be the response, I think we'll more then likely consider just getting a separate archive server.
