What is the best way of backup a BD ???
Actually my DB has 18Gb, With mysqldump It takes about 9 minutes, but in that time the whole system hangs.
Our operation works 24 hours.

The best way would be to have a slave database and perform your backups on the slave.

making a slave is one of my wishlist this year. is there someone has a guide to make a slave database?
