Server Recomendation

Postby spinto » Thu Apr 19, 2007 10:56 am

We have around 40 users dialing out of 4 T1's and would like to know a good server recomendation for this setup. We'd also like it scalable to 100 users with 8 T1's. We purchased a HP Proliant DL380G5 and tried that but couldn't install slackware onto it because of an incompatable hard drive. Also, it doesn't have a standard PCI card slot. Because of this I had to install Fedora. With fedora it's difficult to follow the scratch install because alot of errors occur. I want to put the DB, Asterisk, Apache all on one server.

You will not be able to put everything on one server, even at 40 seats.

For 40 seats I would recommend getting at least a very high-end server for the Asterisk/VICIDIAL machine and a separate machine for the DB/Web.

For 100 agents you really should get 2 more Asterisk/VICIDIAL servers and split the agents across the 3 Asterisk/VICIDIAL servers.

Slackware will install on HP Proliant servers you just need to build a custom kernel for them, which is recommended on high-end servers anyway.
