Hello Jay.

I have bad news for you. It looks like your Vicidial server has a busted HD. If you try booting from a CD (linux, avoid any that would wipe the HD ...), you may be able to recover your data, the perform a fresh install on a new HD and put your data BACK.

Did you piss off your IT guy? Did you lose power? Lightning strike? Drop the server? Add a drive/network card?

Hi williamconley,

Does that mean I can't use my HD or anything? How do I recover the data on my HD?

We encounter current fluctuation in our area last month and the server shutdown and reboots on its own. Does that cause the problem I'm encountering right now?

There are hundreds (thousands?) of data recovery specialists. You need one that speaks Linux fluently, if possible. Preferably local. Or you can ship your HD to someone. We have done this plenty of times to recover data, but we're not specialists. If we get lucky, the OS may be broken but the drive itself is still viable and the data can be easily extracted by booting from an .iso and mounting the HD to copy off the data. Then pushing that data onto a Freshly Installed Vicidial server and *poof* everything's back. If we get lucky.
