Asterisk taking forever to load.

Postby Navek » Tue Oct 04, 2016 2:39 pm

I am having issues with asterisk loading really slow. On server reboot, asterisk takes 10-30 minutes to fully load and say Asterisk Ready. This is happening on multiple systems and when the system is first built it works fine but randomly, some months later, it will start taking a very long time for asterisk to load. Usually on a reboot asterisk fully loads within a minute on a server not having this problem. I have looked at the messages log file for asterisk and it does not have any errors or where it is hanging up and not fully loading. This is happening across multiple servers with different versions of vicibox as well, its not just the current version or older versions i am using. I have done multiple searches on this and have come up with nothing. I am able to connect to the database, web server, and console, and even go into the asterisk cli but i can not run any commands until it shows "Asterisk Ready". When i run a command such as sip show peers it says command unknown until asterisk finally will load and everything works smoothly. Has anyone come across this issue?

VERSION: 2.12-518a
BUILD: 151104-1518
Asterisk: 1.8.32.3-vici

The reason for the failure to load or run is typically invalid configuration or a failure to parse the configuration for the module.

Also just for curiosity reasons , can you verify if DNS resolutions works fine while you are experiencing this issue?

I see the same problem often.

If you check your disk IO (iostat -x 1) you will probably see the util% at 100% until Asterisk is finished starting.
I found that voicemail box checks take time to load before Asterisk loads SIP.

You will also notice voicemail messages in the Asterisk console before Asterisk is completed loading, if this is the case.
Maybe it's something else/
