Delay before audio playback

I've just installed vicidial on a X86_64 machine with a TE405P quad span card with echo cancell and i have encountered a problem, when doing a broadcast using a sound recording there is a big gap between the moment the client answers the phone and the moment the playback is being done. I done this many times over with other systems and it works just fine.
By the way if I place the recording in an extension when i call from the PSTN the playback is fine, it starts right on time.
Any idea why this might be happening?
