Single Server to Cluster

I'm sure it's probably very difficult to split a single server into a cluster to support more reps, I wondering though, could the process be simplified by doing an ADMIN backup on the single server, then build a cluster from scratch and restore the backup?

Actually, you can do a cluster install with VICIbox(
http://www.vicibox.com) and use the BACKUP utility and just restore the elements needed on each server in your cluster.

You can keep current server as is and just add dialer and offload that part.
Now you will have main server with DB, web server and agents host and separate server for placing calls. You can keep doing this until you are only running DB on the original server

Thanks much, Matt. Would you recommend this as the best method to move from 30-40 active reps to 100+?

Yes, but first make sure you have an adequate machine for your dedicated database server.

8 cores or 4 core hyperthreaded /w 16GB DDR4, would that be enough to support 200 people?

8 cores would be better, and the drive RAID is most important at that level. We recommend LSILogic MegaRAID cards. Also, it's a good idea to put the mysql data directory on a different partition from everything else on the machine.

I'm having trouble adding a telephony server to an existing single server. I've installed both with vicibox 8.0.1, the single server works fine, but when I go to expert installation for the 2nd server and put in the database IP and set standard vici logins, it throws a 'using legacy' with some mismatch error. The single server recognizes that the server is there after install, but the time is stuck on the first install of the server time. I check DATE fuction in the new server and it's fine, i even set the database (main single server) as the ntp for the 2nd server, so the times would sync... at this point, i'm about to take the whole system down and rebuild from vicibox 8.0.4 without updating the svn until after everything is working, but thought I'd post here first to see if anyone has any insight, and perhaps can help me get the 2nd server working without a rebuild.

read in another post, someone having the same issue, not being able to add a server to a vicibox-express install, so rebuilding with vicibox-install install (after i copy all of the recordings... ..... geez)

and that worked out well, so there's some trouble with trying to add a server to a vicibox-express install that I couldn't figure out. It worked beautifully with a rebuilt vicibox-install install.
