How to prevent manual dial from changing the lead status

Is there a way I can prevent manual dial changing the lead status? Or prevent lead being looked up at all? When my agents manually dial phone numbers, even though manual dial list id is completely different, the lead in other lists (whichever lead was added last with that phone number) gets it's status updated. I want to somehow prevent this from happening.

Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Look at the campaign setting "Manual Dial Search Checkbox", it will allow you to de-select the search checkbox on the manual dial screen so that a new lead is created for every manual dial.
