Hi,

I was planning on migrating my Vicidial Server(standalone setup) on Cloud. How many cores should I put on a single cloud for it work properly?

1) This is not an offer to pay someone for their services. Please read the stickies for any forum board before posting on that board (the "Requests for Consultation" board is reserved for those attempting to Hire, not free support, and requires that you state as much clearly). I have moved this thread to Support where it belongs. 8-)

2) VIRTUAL Vicidial is a bad idea. CLOUD is often virtualized, but not necessarily. So be sure the service you acquire is a physical piece of hardware and not a "VPS" or anything else virtualized. Plenty of conversation on that topic (google virtual vicidial and read a few, lol).

3) The Vicidial Manager's Manual, available Free on EFLO.net's store, contains scaling information. Size and components are dependent entirely on usage. Considerations include (but are NOT limited to): maximum number of simultaneous ... live agents, outbound calls, inbound calls, recording calls, answering machine detections, codec translations and web interactions.

4) Our standard servers (generally good for 10-25 agents, depending on usage) have 4 cores, 2G RAM, 150G HD and are 2.3+Ghz. My advice is to start there and work your way up.

5) Seriously consider leasing a system from Vicihost.com: They are undeniably the best host (as they OWN the software and actively manage it at all times). Also consider my employer: Poundteam.com. I'm a little partial to us for obvious reasons. Once you have a properly hosted Vicidial system you not only don't have to worry about Hardware but you also don't have to worry about the OS or software packages to keep Vicidial running. Cloud facilities will be of no help in that regard.

Happy Hunting! 8-)

We offer a Vicidial updated interface hosted on the cloud. We also give you a dedicated server with our program for hosting and offer support before and after implementation.

I don't suppose you could be a little more clear of what that is? Perhaps a screenshot ...?

They are using VICIdial code altered by another company several years ago and they have refused to send us the altered code, in violation of the AGPLv2 license. We sued them, and won, and we've been trying to force them to send the code to us since then.

Do ... YOU have a screenshot from the lawsuit?

Here's their copyright page, you can see they've forked from a 2015 version of the VICIdial code:

Yeah, we got one that was worlds different than that. Although it was geared towards the Agent screen instead of the Management screen. (I mean, who cares about the screen the managers see, anyway? lol)

Well, vicidial works perfectly for me on VPS or Virtual platforms, I have been using with cloud environments, scaling more to 100 agents and working great and more than 2 years running!

Same here. Cloud and proud. It's perfectly stable with minimal resources.

I'm still kind of in the dark on what the terms would be of offering it as a cloud-based service.

What cloud services do you recommend for near easy setup and avoiding dahdi issues

1) Cloud is not a thing in this respect. "Cloud" actually refers to "shared processing" and "pooling resources" for major applications to react slowly but accurately across millions of simultaneous requests. You're not really asking for that. You're asking for a place to install a Vicidial Server in a Linux server that's just not at YOUR location, but "somewhere else". Yes: There are cloud servers that can provide Virtual Private Servers for you. But if you put a Vicidial server in one of those, it will crash and burn if you exceed just a few users with 2.5:1 dialing. (eg: You might be able to have 2 users with 2.5:1 dialing and not have a problem).

2) Vicidial requires dedicated hardware for any actual call center use. Virtual is fine for a couple users or for testing/sandboxing.

3) If you rent physical hardware from a "cloud provider", you are still renting a server. This is also commonly referred to as Colocation. The Vicidial Group operates ViciHost.com which is (without question) the best place to run a Vicidial server with NO issues about packages/compatibility/software updates, etc. They built and maintain Vicidial and keep ViciHost.com server's running cleanly. (For the record: I do not work for, and am not associated with, The Vicidial Group ... in fact, I work at PoundTeam.com and we also have Vicidial Colocation! LOL).

4) So what you are looking for is a place to lease a server capable of running Vicidial. Find a colocation facility (there are hundreds of them) that will allow you to install from the .iso image at Vicibox.com. That is THE installer for Vicidial and always has been. That .ISO will install OpenSuSE and all the packages required in OpenSuSE and then install Vicidial itself. There's an install manual in Vicibox.com for this purpose. Then there's a Vicidial Administrator's manual available at EFLO.net which you jump right into after the Vicibox install is completed. My recommendation: Install it on your own VM a few times (works in a laptop! no joke! VirtualBox, VMware, etc). Screw it up, install it again, and keep on until you get it right. Then blow it away again and do it a couple more times until you are confident. THEN lease a machine in The Cloud and install it there. Just remember: Dedicated hardware or two users max. YES you can run two users on a Vicidial installed in a Virtualbox on your laptop. Probably. LOL (At least one!).

5) Or you can hire someone to perform a remote install on your cloud server for you. Or you can just BUY a Vicidial server.

I am not trying to discourage you. Just hoping to help you see the potholes on that road in front of you. Now you know where they are. 8-)

Happy Hunting.

the dahdi issues are due to dahdi developers not staying up to date, i have fixed most dahdi issues with the code changes themselves that can be found on my github or my site
