ASTloop unregistered

Postby dspaan » Fri Jun 14, 2019 10:00 am

We occasionally have servers where the ASTloop, blind and play trunks are not registered anymore. Rebooting solves it. But now we have a machine where this is happening in the middle of the day after having been rebooted last night.

Code: Select all
iax2 show peers
Name/Username    Host                                           Mask                                      Port           Status      Description
ASTloop          (null)                                   (D)  (null)                                    (null)         UNKNOWN
ASTblind         (null)                                   (D)  (null)                                    (null)         UNKNOWN
ASTplay          (null)                                   (D)  (null)                                    (null)         UNKNOWN
3 iax2 peers [0 online, 3 offline, 0 unmonitored]

Code: Select all
iax2 show registry
Host                                           dnsmgr  Username    Perceived                                      Refresh  State

This is a vicibox server 8.1.2 server with SVN 3058 and Asterisk 13.

I found various topics mentioning to check if ip_relay is running. So i did:

All the other topics mention that i should run

Code: Select all
apt-get install libc6-i386

But i can't imagine this is right for such a recent OpenSUSE ISO.

Registration has several steps:

1) Determine it's time to register
2) Generate registration packet
3) Send registration packet (all from requesting server)
4) Pass registration packet from requesting server
5) Get registration packet on registration server
6) Register
7) Send registration acknowledgement back
8) Receive acknowledgement
9) Note "registered" in asterisk internal DB

So you'll next check ... did it successfully register, but not get the receipt? OR did registration Fail (thus no receipt)? OR did the registration packet just never get there?

It'll either be a networking issue or a server load issue. Note that sometimes it's both: excessive server load can "use up" all the network ports and even though an attempt was made to send a packet, there was no port through which to send it. And remember that this can be on either of the two servers involved.

Checking for dropped packets, full network ports, too many processes running ...

Happy Hunting. 8-)
