I know this requirement sounds odd based on how ViciDial handles calls and passes them to available agents, but maybe there's a way to achieve this:
Need the agent to have a preview of the contact being called and assigned to him/her because they need to gather some info (that takes about 30 seconds to have) for this not to be a "cold" call.
If this is impossible with auto-dialing, is there any way to make the manual-preview method to have a "max preview time" so the agents can't wait too much to decide to make the next call?

There's an option in System settings named "Enable Manual Dial Auto Next". After you enable it, you can use "Manual Auto Next Seconds" and "Manual Auto Next Options" inside the detailed campaign configuration. I believe this gives you what you want.

You can simulate this by adding a loopback adaptor with a combination of WAIT command in your dialplan. This will dump a non dialled call onto the agent's screen and WAIT for x amount before ringing it.
Bit hacky but yeah.
