Asterisk 11 to 16 AMD/Volume Control Support

Hi all,

One of our clients looking to move from Asterisk 11 to 16 to take advantage of having a webphone. They didn't want to upgrade to 13 because of the volume control bug.

Now that Ast 16 has had some time in the wild, just wanted to know how people's experience with the AMD is. I know Ast 11 has been reported at being better than Ast 13 but if the performance is comparable then I'd like to do the upgrade.

I have just done a test and volume control doesn't seem to be working on Asterisk 16 (separate issue, bug report linked). Also would like to know if the bug that caused the crash in Ast 13 from volume control has been fixed (on Asterisk side, not vici).

Appreciate any feedback. Thanks

The volume control bug is an issue with Meetme, and the current Asterisk 16 VICIdial implementation still uses Meetme so the bug is still there. With Meetme being deprecated in Asterisk, they aren't going to be fixing it.

That said, we are working on Asterisk 18 now, along with the option to use ConfBridge as well. Switching to ConfBridge will allow us to add some new features that weren't possible with Meetme, like enter/leave sounds for the agent only, and hopefully a stable volume control.

Ah that's a pain, feel free to close that issue then. Thanks for the response.
