Hello Guys,

Have you guys experienced getting dead airs when the call is dialed on another server? Its a bit random and it happens when the agent is on another asterisk server and the number was dialed in another asterisk server or thru balance dialing.

Any direction where I should look? they are all connected in a cluster.

ip_relay is running and all are connected thru iax.

I would start by checking the CLI output of Asterisk when these calls were routed looking for any errors.
There's also the possibility that it's FAS from your carrier or no RTP being sent by the carrier or that your firewall is blocking the RTP packets.

If the only common factor is "balance dialing" and no other calls are dead air, my first guess would be some sort of networking snafu. Is this a heavy-dialing situation where perhaps you ran out of ports?

Not likely the CID (call grading), but possible if the campaign is not running on the balance dial server so those balance dials are the ONLY ones for that campaign on that server.

Start the log now. Eventually you'll find out what they have in common. Log ... everything about each occurrence. It's in there somewhere. It always is. 8-)
