Kind of trunks? (SIP/T1/E1)
If using SIP, what codec?
full recording of all calls?
Lines to agent ratio?

Because of the full recording of all calls and the G729 codec I would recommend using two separate servers. One for database and web(Intel core 2 Duo with 2GB RAM minimum) and one for Asterisk/VICIDIAL(Intel core 2 quad with 2GB RAM minimum). That should be able to handle what you are trying to do.

Matt,
Does using multi-core processor gives load balancing to call processing for Asterisk. I mean does call processing is equally distributed to every core ?
Thanks

I wouldn't say that multi-core has everything distributed exactly evenly, but it does help a lot to use a multi-core.

Okay, can you give an idea that how many simultenous calls can Core2 Duo OR Core2 Quad with 2GB or above RAM, can support with all recordings.
I just need a rough idea.
Thanks in advance.

With G729 I'm not sure, but with ULAW I have seen an inbound system handle 80 concurrent channels with full recording. I might cut that number in half to 40 for G729 in an outbound 2:1 ratio campaign.
