Hi,

VICI is running fine with 10 agents on manual dialing (single server).
I have 512k lease line and planning to have total of 17 agents (predictive mode).

So, any suggestions about a codec that will suit best.

And, how to list my center as a VICIDIAL user ??

thanx

I always like GSM, if you can find a carrier that offers it, like Binfone and Vitelity.

Otherwise you can try G723 or G729(this one requires pay-per-channel in several countries).

on a ratio of 1:2 agent:line thats 17 * 2 = 34 calls, if you use g729 codec that averages likes 3.86 KBps / call so thats 3.86 * 34 = 131.24 KBps or 1.3 Mbps

Actually G729 uses 8kbps of bandwidth not counting the TCP/IP overhead. You can check the bandwidth calculator from asteriskguru.com. This is the computation for 10 calls using G729 codec:

Incoming Bandwidth:
Calls: 10
RTP: 4.69 Kbps
UDP: 3.13 Kbps
IP: 7.81 Kibps
Protocol: SIP
Audio Codec: 8.00g.729a Kbps

Incoming bandwidth: 236.25 Kbps
0.23 Mbps
29.53 KBps
0.03 MBps

Hi,

Thanks for the valuable inputs.. Seems like its time to get the bandwidth increased.
