SVN versus release versions which is best

can somebody please point me to the right direction or answer this question for me.

I've worked w/ vicidial and asterisk for 2 years now, but because i do not have a test server at home to test this, .. i never got around to testing different versions of vicidial with different versions of asterisk. In the scratch install, i see that it says 1.2.24 is suited for 2.0.4, but can i also use the latest SVN ? Can i also play around 1.4 ?

I would love to know if people got around working w/ 1.4 w/o the hassles as i finally got a machine at home that i can test. Would appreciate the kick-off assist.

Many Thanks

SVN is usually very stable, there are many companies running it in production and it has a lot more features than the 2.0.4 branch.

As for Asterisk 1.4, there are several companies running that as well, but it is important to use a version that is 1.4.18 or later, earlier ones are not stable.

Well Explained. Thank you very much matt. I'll go ahead and start testing.
