Hi, I am testing a phone over the internet using g729 from asterisk/vicidial.
On the asterisk console i get the following error
"Dropping extra frame of G.729 since we already have a VAD frame at the end".
I then get 1 way audio, if I use ulaw i get 2 way audio.
I'm using the SVN trunk vicidial and asterisk 1.4.22
Thanks
Kenny

What version of the G729 codec are you using? Did you purchase it from Digium or are you using the free version? If you are using the free version then there is no official support for it and it is not guaranteed to work with every version of Asterisk.
Also we cannot recommend using any version of Asterisk higher than 1.4.21.2 as there are issues with it and Vicidial.

Hi, its the free version as I'm testing at the moment.
It works fine to an IAX provider but this is my 1st attempt with it and sip.....
If I down load and compile an earler version of asterisk and do a make install will it replace all of the files from the 1.4.22?
Am I best with the latest 1.2.x asterisk?
Thanks
Kenny

you might have to delete the files in the /usr/lib/asterisk/modules directory. But it will give an error if you need to.

Hi, the error I was seeing was due to the far end phone having echo cancellation turned on which is not supported.
After turning this off te g729 worked fine...
Downgrade went well too...
Thanks
