Background:

Vicidial installed about 2 years ago on Fedora Core 4 with asterisk 1.2 and vicidial 2.0.1, xlite softphones and binfone IAX trunk. Used intermittently with the usual hiccoughs through upgrades to FC6, asterisk 1.4.6, and vicidial 2.0.4, but never a serious problem that wasn't operator error. They decided to put it into use again, and I get a call that it's not working. So I log in and check and everything seems fine. I upgrade vicidial to 2.0.5 and check with a softphone from home: Everything looks great from where I'm sitting...

Symptoms:

1. When I login from home the system does everything that it's supposed to. I can manual dial, take autodial calls, etc, and it does just what it says on the box.
2. When a local agent logs in, they are placed in conference, advised of an inbound call, get call details, but never connect with the party. They can, however, make manual dial calls just fine.
3. The internal softphone doesn't show up on the active lines tab of the manager interface.
4. The called party hears "You are currently the only person in this conference." a few seconds before getting hung up on. And no, they can't hear the agent in that time.

If I've missed anything here, I apologize. Chalk it up to 3 days of head meets brick wall. Any help is greatly appreciated and ssh access is available. Thanks.

What version of Asterisk are you using this with?

1.4.6 currently. After reading around, I understand that it's not a recommended version, but I've never noticed any problems with it. I believe we upgraded to that version due to a security notice, but after so many different upgrades to the system I really can't say.

There are A LOT of problems with that verison. We only recommend 1.4.18, 19, 21.2 and 24.1

My apologies for wasting everybody's time on this. The problem came down to a softphone upgrade where they didn't follow instructions, and then they presented falsified results for the tests, observations, and settings I requested.

I'd offer to chew on my shoe, but I lost it up their backside.

Thanks for the info on the 1.4.6 Matt. But at this point, fixing that for them is no priority of mine.
