I am trying to install vicidial on slackware 12.2 with kernel 2.6.27.7 and I can not get zaptel to compile - has anyone else managed to get this to work or am I best reinstalling with a lower version of slackware?
If I need to drop to an older version of slackware what is the highest version that people are currently using?

newer kernels don't support zaptel 1.2, and we are starting to phase out our support for Slackware in favor of Ubuntu and OpenSuse.

I am building a new server up - I would like to use Slackware as I am familiar with using it with the vicidial setup.
I have previously been using 10.2 (I think)
What version of Slackware would you recomend I put on the new server?

You might try using Asterisk 1.4.21.2 instead and it should work fine with newer kernels. On the REQUIRED_APPS.txt file you will find instructions on how to install it.

I'am going to stick with what I know as its going to be a production server.
Do you know if 12.1 will work as well as 11 - or am I best sticking with version 11 to avoid the zaptel problems.
The reason I want to be 100% is that the server is based in a data centre and we dont have KVM access so its a pain to reinstall Slackware. We have just put 12.2 and I dont want to drop to 12.1 to then have the same problem and have to get someone then install 11.
I am thinking of going for 11 to be on the safe side, but I also think there might be some advantage to 12.1 so long as it does not cause any problems when following the scratch install.
