Linux Client PC for SIP

Hi anyone can suggest a LINUX distro and a SIP softphones for it, im using codec g729 from my Asterisk server to VOIP telco. so it needs transcoding with codec. im planning to deploy it on 30 seats.

try the Vicibox Server Demo CD .iso. It has ubuntu and a soft phone installed. And you CAN load it to your desktop, but you can test the soft phone right from the Live CD.

I would recommend Zoiper, not sure if the free version includes the G729 codec though.

X-Lite would be a very good sip softphone. It has video support so you could use the video phone too.

Here are your choices, for linux distro:
Ubuntu Desktop
Fedora Core
Open Suse
For Open Source SIP clients:
Ekiga
Twinklephone (Highly recommended)
Linphone (Also good)
Mozphone (a browser based IAX Client, very good if you want an all browser based setup)
X-lite (Average)
Best headsets under linux per my experience (driver highly available in those distro's):
PLantronics DA-55 (usb adaptor)
Plantronics DSP-400 (highly recommended, cheap, good noise cancellation)
