Trunk iax loop to hear ringing on manual calls

I have a setup in which I dont hear the ringing tone when manual dialing. I've read you need to use the Iax loop trunk for that but cannot find docs on how to do it.

How can I make it work?

i dont get exactly what you mean. but you mean something like this?:

I dial local numbers with 9XXXXXXX and then strip the 9

If I make an exten

And then another without the 9 outgoing via the normal trunks, I would hear a ringing tone?

i usually get a ringing in my trunk without the loop. but i guess you can do that.

You might want to try using Asterisk 1.4.21.2. This is not an issue with that version.
