Has anyone experienced losing available memory throuout the day using Vicidial / Asterisk?

I am running 6 Servers with the following configurations

Fedora Core 8 ( Using X86 AND X64)
Quad Core Q6600 Cpu's
Gigabyte Motherboards
Rad 1 and Non Raid Setups
4GB Each
Onboard Video

AMD Phoenom 9950 Quad Core Cpu's
Nvidia Geforce 8400 Video Cards
4GB Ram
Sata Hard Drives

I have 2 servers using
VICIDIAL VERSION: 2.0.5-173

I have 4 Servers using
VERSION: 2.0.5-132

I am using all SIP trunks and g729 codecs.

I started with Fedora because i was told to by my consultant at the time it was the most stable Desktop for someone who had to have a GUI.

Now i am using Opensuse 11.0 and no matter what happens i lose availabe memory by the end of the day. I can easily go from having 3.5GB Free down to 500MB free and i then have to reboot.

Any advice would be appreciated.

How do you know you're losing system memory? What does the output of "top -c" shows you?

i should have included this.... i am using cacti to monitor all of my machines.

i am seeing over 8700 zombie processes and it just keeps going up.

Now i am confused because cacti shows a progressive decline in available memory on all of my servers and when i go into top or system monitor it says i am only using 980mb

i am beginning to wonderif cacti is only reporting memory being used and not reporting memory being freed up. Every day i have to reboot to get the free memory to come back in cacti.

thanks a lot for the info.... i am rather new to linux and i have been relating what seems to be a logical answer from my 15 years using windows.
