Manual dial from contacts

I recently added a button to the Manual Dial screen and copied the code to mimic the behavior of clicking the 'Contacts' button in the Transfer/Conf screen. This has made it much easier for my agents to call my on-call technicians because I have entries for all necessary staff in the Contacts.
Perhaps other people would find that useful.
It would probably be more efficient to have that code on its own then just pass the page/field where the number is to be sent back as a parameter? i.e. clicking a contact's phone number would send that number back to screen/field name you were in when you called it. That would make it easier to also use the contact search from the lead search, scripts, web forms, etc.
