It is not advisable to add that many numbers to your DNC list. It will slow down the lead loading processes quite a bit.

Good question. I think it was discussed in the forums before. I didn't have time to search for it now. In SA we also have a HUGE DNC list to add.

Matt, how do you guys load your national DNC list there? As I understand your legislation is quite strict about it?

We usually recommend pre-filtering your lists for DNCs. Here in the USA we have over 140,000,000 numbers in our DNC list, so it really doesn't make sense to maintain that as an active filter on an outbound dialing system.

What is DNC list

Can someone tell me what is DNC list. All I know - there is status = DNC. Which is a value in the phone table. If I do not include DNC into my compain mix - it will never be dialed. What is this DNC list - is it a table? How do numbers get there?

DNC = Do Not Call

If your campaign is set to use the internal DNC list, then anything set to DNC will never be dialed again.

We have written a utility to check the national dnc list before adding to the hopper. We're testing it now to see how it affects dialer performance. This allows us to keep the National DNC on a separate server and dump/reload it without having an affect on the Vicidial box. Also, it's a central server available across all our servers. It's a basic modification to the hopper loader script to check first with the DNC. We're testing this method against an automatic daily check for speed and errors. (This version allows managers to load lists from "wherever" and the SYSTEM will DNC wash before calling no matter what.) Paying for the DNC, that's the hard part.

Yep, I think the federal DNC is up to $17,000/year or so right now.

And if you provide the list or filtering services to a company that does not have it's own registration with the FTC then you can be fined hundreds of thousands of dollars and possibly be shut down by the FTC.

Fun stuff :)

And they DO check.

However, it is also REQUIRED to do business and up to 5 area codes can be obtained free of charge.

Downloading those 5 free area codes and then having a manager buy a list and load it in without checking can cause a HUGE problem.

But ... if the SYSTEM does the checking automatically at any stage of the process, the managers cannot "accidentally" skip it.

This would be why we built it. We've used several scenarious, depending on server load and purpose of the campaign and origin of the leads. Not to mention you have to re-wash every 30 days. In our scenario, the reloading of the list every 4 weeks resolves this issue without having to interact with the lists all over again every month.
