Help Multi server && Load Balancing

What is the difference between Multi server & Load balancing, how can i incomplete both which one is better....

I would assume that with a multiserver scenerio you would want to load balance calls accordingly to take advantage of the maximum utilization of both. That being said Multi-Server = Load Balancing. Im sure it can be configured in such a way that they are independant yet share a database but that would take away from the scalability in my opinion.
