No, you can do an upgrade, just read the UPGRADE document in the 2.0.5rc3 download.

Only if you have an SVN viewer and connect to the SVN server.

Other wise you have to download the whole 7MB download to see it.

You can upgrade directly from 2.0.4 to 2.0.5, just make sure you read the UPGRADE document.

If your server is in production, you may want to consider hiring a linux professional to upgrade your software.

If you don't want to pay anyone, you may want to practice on some OTHER software before you modify your vicidial installation.

A spare (PII? Pull one from a trash can?) computer to practice on makes this a lot more fun.

Basically you'll be "unpacking" the downloaded files over the top of the existing install during installation and following the upgrade directions for how and what you do for unpacking and sql commands to modify any tables necessary, etc.

This can be a wee bit dangerous if you do not know what you are doing. The question is: do you have a good (verified restorable) backup of your existing install?

No back up but have system on which I can try.

I didn't understand when you say :::

"you'll be "unpacking" the downloaded files over the top of the existing install during installation"

if you read the directions for upgrading, you'll understand. knowing how it matches my description (or whether it does semantically) has no impact on whether you can follow the directions for upgrading. if you can follow the directions, it will work.

but ALWAYS do a backup before you begin (even if you've practiced on another box, you must have a good backup before you begin unless you don't mind losing the data).
