want to make my scratch install *.iso

Postby shisdew » Sat Jul 30, 2011 11:04 am

hi there,
For thousands of reason as I am doing vicidial scratch install everytime for my call center . I want to keep my own cd for al those repeted jobs. I know I can use vicidialnow or goautodial ; but I prefer scratch install in my way. As I do it on my way every time and unfortunately I am very EXPERT (!?!). I want to make my own preference CD / DVD customized only for me with GUI to select / deselect my prefered package/crm/ asterisk version.

Can any body help me on that? I am very rich so I an unable to pay, but i can always do the reading and learn. just point me towards the road.

Every OS has its own method of building an .iso. Some even have "tools". You did not mention the OS you are using.

Also: your first step would be to build a comprehensive installation script (it can be interactive, of course, for things like choosing packages ... or it can auto-choose and allow "override" ... or it can just auto-choose!).

After that, you modify your original .iso (the one from the OS download) and add your script to it so it will be used for installation. This may involve multiple stages, depending on how you do it.

Williamconley is right. Building a comprehensive installer script is the first step. Test it on your favorite Linux distribution until it's ready for production.

Besides which most never go quite so far as making an .iso ... it's easy to make a script (or several) to accomplish your tasks ... and just download them after the OS installation.

the "history" command is very useful for this.

/root/.bash_history

if you just want to see the file with your CLI commands in it :)

CentOS is a Redhat Derivitive.

Try starting here

http://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_H ... start.html

There should be similar references in how to use this in CentOS (there are for Ubuntu, and Ubuntu isn't even a Redhat clone!)
