Intel® Desktop Board DH61WW

Sorry to create a New Post but My client wants to use 2.6.18-164.el5.vnow as they are Pretty happy wit that version.

But can we Install 2.6.18-164.el5.vnow on above MB or it may create issue ?

$admin_version = '2.0.5-173';
$build = '90320-0424';

Gardo, can you throw some light on it ?

It's not a question of "creating an issue". If it installs, it'll be marvelous. But the question is whether the drivers for that Motherboard existed when that .iso image was created. There's only one way to be sure. Attempt an install. (Of course, the likelihood of the drivers for a motherboard first sold in 2011 existing on an .iso image created three years ago are ... slim, but there you have it.)

I'm relatively certain that if you sent a motherboard with that model# to gardo ... he would probably test it and let you know? (I know I would 8-) )

You really need to get in touch with Intel and ask them if their motherboard has RedHat Linux support. I can't find anything on the URL that says the operating system support. If this hardware is very recent or bleeding edge chances are it doesn't have Linux support yet. But as @williamconley said better test if it installs. If it does and it runs fine then very good. If not then better find another one or use a more recent GoAutoDial version.

Wow. The first link says RHEL users in July couldn't find a video driver. The second one lists "limited" linux support for other boards on the list ... but NO LINUX for this board. Not lookin' good.

Latest Greatest is not usually a good idea in the world of Linux.

Nah. Use it for a desktop for a year (windows 7!), then put it in service. Get a nice cheap core i3 in it.

Consider it a lesson: Never use bleeding edge with Servers, and NEVER EVER use bleeding edge with Linux Servers.

How about adding a Realtek VGA card and then trying ?

Why? it's not about the video. If you HAVE the thing, TRY the install as I said on my first post. If it works, great. If not, try GoAutoDial. If that doesn't work, try Vicibox. Then you can debate a Scratch install.

And you may have purchased an i5 with it, but the i5 is not "integrated". Perhaps you mean "bundled".
