you do not register all sip connections. registration is only necessary to inform a carrier of the location to send your inbound calls.
many "users" view the registration as a way to verify their user/pass and believe it is therefore related to security and verification, but the only actual use by the carrier of registration is to allow you to tell them your IP address (with security, of course! user/pass) so they know where to send your inbound calls.
that being said: If you have their IP address, and they have your IP address, registration is no longer necessary.
An unfortunate side-effect of not having registration, however, is that if they are sending you inbound traffic to the outside of your firewall, and your "registration packets" have not opened a port to the provider, the port will not be open unless you expressly open it. You may have to open port 5060 & port range 10000-25000 (UDP) to your vicidial server (which is a security risk!) to get inbound traffic. To reduce the security risk it is a best practice to limit the users of those ports to the carrier, either in the firewall/router or via iptables in your Vicidial server.
