Predictive dialer not transferring call to agent.

Postby chrisdbarnett » Fri Aug 17, 2012 10:34 am

Hello,

I've a real irritating problem.

For about 24 hours I had no problems with our predictive dialer - it was quite happily dialing out to our VOIP supplier.

The next morning, we walked in to find it was dialing people, but then giving them 5 seconds of silence, then dropping the calls rather than transferring to
an agent.

In the end I resorted to a rebuild and it would not work after the normal configuration of the system, but weirdly it worked when I ran the update TCP/IP address script (Even though I didn't change IP!).

So that night, I left, to yet again find it would not work the following morning.

I did another rebuild, then it worked today....for 10 minutes!

Manual dials work no problem. VOIP supplier has been very helpful and got connections into perfect shape.

Any ideas? Can someone give me pointers to which logs (Complete locations on PC) to post up here for peeps to look at?

Many thanks.

In my experience this has been down to a network issue.Check the appropriate ports are open on your firewall to allow incoming sip traffic and check all network connections.

in a situation such as this, you should be troubleshooting the dialer from the command line. the web gui is pretty and if the system is working properly is all you need. but when the system fails, the linux and asterisk command lines are used to look deeper in the system. this could be anything from a crashed mysql table to a full HD or even a carrier issue or networking issue.

asterisk -R

This will be a good starting point to find out what is happening ... and where to look next.
