What version of ViciDial? and other questions.

Hi,
I got a couple of questions;
Is it ViciDialNow based on latest ViciDial version?
Will it detect and remove answer machines and disconnected numbers out of the box?
Can you please name some differences between functionality and extensibility between ViciBox and ViciDialNow?
I want to try the easiest solution to install.

VicidialNOW uses the latest stable version of Vicidial (2.0.5.X). It has AMD (answering machine detection) support out of the box.
VicidialNOW is based on CentOS with a highly modified kernel. Vicibox is based on Ubuntu. Both are easy to install. The choice depends whether you want an RPM based distro or a DEB one.

Hi Gardo, thanks for your help, I enjoy reading your posts a lot.
What are the differences between a RPM based distro or a DEB one, what does it mean?
What are the advantages/disadvantages of having a modified kernel?
Is upgrading to a future version of vicidial easy (from vicidialnow 1.3) or I need to wait for a new version of vicidialnow to come out?

RPMs and DEBs are different package management format. Both of them achieving the same thing. Installing software packages automatically.
The VicidialNOW kernel has been modified for optimum Vicidial and Asterisk performance. The default CentOS kernel was lacking in some aspects for optimum Vicidial performance specially when using hardware telephony cards (E1s, TDMs and etc).
Upgrading to future versions of Vicidial is really easy if you follow the UPGRADE.txt document on the Astguiclient zip file. It actually involves less than 5 steps to do it. You just need to learn basic Linux to do it. There is no need to wait for the next version of VicidialNOW.

Yes. However, it won't be using the 64bit extensions since VicidialNOW is 32bit. Most modern 64bit processors are backwards compatible with 32bit.

Hi
Starting from a vicidialnow installation, can we upgrade to asterisk 1.4.27.1?
I tried after having upgraded vicidial to 2.2
The asterisk upgrade didn't work : manual calls are ok but agi scripts are not runnig.
I need asterisk 1.4.27.1 because of Dhadi (i have a digium compression card)
