Hello,

The VicidialNow 1.3 uses Asterisk 1.2, would like to know how to upgrade it to asterisk 1.4.

This has been discussed before. Try searching the forums first. In a nutshell:

1. Download and install Zaptel/Dahdi for Asterisk 1.4.X
2. Install Asterisk 1.4.X (get the ones from http://download.vicidial.com).

also helpful to look at the scratch installation instructions, as they cover installation of either version. (luckily even if you screw it up royally, vicidialnow is easily reinstalled, just be sure to back up your data and configuration files)

Hi,

Thanks for the response. However some issues need to be clarified:

1. Where is asterisk source code installed in VicidialNow

2. Do I need to delete existing asterisk after upgrading?

3. Where is zaptel source code installed in VicidialNow

4. Do I need to delete existing zaptel after upgrading?

Will appreciate your response.

Hi

There are 4 versions of asterisk 1.4 in the download.vicidial.com, which one is advisable to download and will all them work with zaptel 1.4?

Thanks

it is not necessary to delete anything after the upgrade.

why are you upgrading to 1.4 again? I think i missed that part.

The reason why I am upgrading is that VicidialNow 1.3 comes with asterisk version 1.2 and would like to have some functionalities on asterisk 1.4

Hi

The upgrade was done however, whenever I issue the command

[root@vici kernel]# genzaptelconf -vvvv
Generating '/etc/zaptel.conf and /etc/asterisk/zapata-channels.conf'
Reconfiguring identified channels
Notice: Configuration file is /etc/zaptel.conf
line 18: Unable to read Zaptel version information.

Zaptel Version: Unknown

Channel map:

Channel 01: FXS Kewlstart (Default) (Slaves: 01)

1 channels to configure.

ZT_CHANCONFIG failed on channel 1: Inappropriate ioctl for device (25)

I got the above errors. Does anyone have an idea of what to do?

Try changing:

fxsks=1,2,3,4

to:

fxsks=1-4

I was getting the same error with four lines, one for each fxoks/fxsks. Changing to two lines of fxoks=1-2 and fxsks=3-4 make ztcfg happy.
