that's all i've got (except i have a few clients with Zimbra servers which has built-in chat, and those who are using it claim to be completely unable to live without that Zimbra chat :) ) I wonder if Zimbra chat could be embedded into Vici (purely for automatic authentication perhaps?)?

thanks

There has been lots of talk about adding the chat feature. According to the project forum Matt also plans on adding functionality so that customers can chat to agents live. Think of the possibilities!! :D

It is just sad that nobody else seems to be willing to sponsor even $1 towards its development.

why sponsor when you can just wait and eventually it'll be free?

pretty sad, really. instead of each person who wants it pledging $100 until the "coffer" gets big enough to get the job done.

Hehehe! @Williamconley is right:

Why sponsor when you can just wait and eventually it'll be free.

We're developing a chat system that'll be available on the next release. Anyone is welcome to contribute (code or money). :)

thanks

Gardo, is it in line with the specs Matt is talking about in this post? http://www.vicidial.org/VICIDIALforum/v ... php?t=8754

Will it be included in ViciDial as well? If so I will definitely be willing to sponsor some money.

Valid question: are you developing this in a way that could be compatible with/find its way into the developer trunk so it can become part of the system? (so we don't have the same problem as the cool screen that was stuck in 2.0.5 world?)

@Willimconley: The modified agent UI was actually included by Matt in the 2.0.5 code base as a separate download. Noone was kind enough to sponsor the update to 2.2.X so it took a while before it got there.

The development we're doing are mostly add-ons and it's up to Matt really if they'll go to the mainstream. If they don't they're always available as a separate download.

@Brett05: It's still under development and is currently unusable yet.

Yes, it is in line with the specs Matt is talking about in that post and yes we will contribute it to the community when we're done coding it.

Yep, but the question i was getting at was whether this would be developed purely for 2.2.1 (and get left behind as the interface designed for 2.0.5 did because it was designed for 2.0.5 when 2.2.0 was trunk), or if it would be built for 2.4.X or possibly both (at least tested in both during development ...?).

I mean, if this is "developed" in the "branch" instead of the "Developer Trunk" ... it will not be shocking when it gets left behind.

Not to say anything about it no being useful, but the limitations on usefulness for software can impede progress dramatically. (I have a client on 2.0.4 who won't leave it because adaptations built in 2.0.4 would have to be "brought up to date" and he doesn't want to pay for it ... he says he'll wait until everything he added to 2.0.4 is IN trunk, then switch ... :) )

Interesting. As per http://www.vicidial.org/VICIDIALforum/v ... php?t=8754 I think the two MOST important features are the ability to send broadcast messages as well as accepting and logging web-chats from clients.
