Load Averages almost 100%

Goautodial 2.0 from .iso | Vicidial 2.2.1 Build 100510-2015 | Asterisk 1.4.27.1-vici | Single Server | No Digium/Sangoma Hardware | No Extra Software After Installation

I'm worried about my server performance, I got more than 90% on load averages and my server is getting slower. I hope I can get some tips to improve my server's performance.[/img]

And I have only 3 agents using the dialer. Any help will be appreciated.

Are you recording all calls? What codec are you using? Can you post the output of "top -c" when you're dialing? What do you mean you're server is getting slower?

My server is overloaded and I'm really worried since we have only 3 agents using it. One other thing that I realized is that my server is recording my calls in mp3 and wav formats. How can I have my server record my calls only in mp3 format?.

Im getting now:

Load averages 100%
and I have to delete my temp files all the time so we can have enough space to record all calls.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

You didn't post the complete output of "top -c". Specially the header part. Transcoding calls to MP3 really eats a lot of CPU resources. Either you change this to GSM or schedule the MP3 transcoding during off peak hours.

What kind of harddrive do you have? 150GB sounds pretty small and quite old nowadays. Try enabling RAM drives for your recordings. This will offload a lot of disk IO and CPU resources when you're recording all calls.

the number of agents is a "hint" but not actually useful. how many simultaneous phone calls?

You can break it down by "prospect" and "agent" if you like, but the TOTAL number of calls is a determining factor in load, the number of agent can be ... misleading. ie: broadcast dialing can use 100 prospect lines per agent whereas manual dialing can often mean .9 prospect lines per agent.

I'm pretty sure your dialer should be able to handle 6 calls, but 303 calls is debatable (at best).

You could also mention your codec (compression is expensive in terms of CPU). And I would suggest you record in WAV and convert to mp3 at night if you are short on disk space (in which case you should have an archive server for your recordings anyway, and THAT box could convert from WAV to MP3).

And you should definitely get more RAM and set up a RAM disk for recording.
