1) always post your vicidial version with build and your installation method. this is a requirement for the free help! :)

2) WHY do you need/want to upgrade to 1.4?

3) If you read the Scratch Install instructions (online) and many of the installation instruction sets that are included in a download of the vicidial software, many of them include instructions for asterisk 1.4 installation. (Yes: the vicidial software that you install on your linux server has TEXT files in it that YOU can read and have LOTS of information in them! read them!)

4) Better idea: back up your data, verify you have a good copy of it OFF this server, and install the LATEST version of Vicidial. Then put your data back, upgrade the data to the last version of Vicidial (instructions for data upgrade are included in each relase under "UPGRADE.txt" :)). Then you'll have more than just 1.4 asterisk, you'll have ALL the cool new toys as well, AND still have a stock installation that noone has "borked".

Yes you can. As @williamconley has pointed out, read the scratch install instructions. You can safely overwrite Asterisk 1.2 with 1.4. Another alternative is to download and install GoAutoDial 2.0 (formerly VicidialNOW). It uses Asterisk 1.4.27-vici and is totally web based.
