Hi,

Why use GoAutoDial instead of Vicibox?

I've been using Vicibox for about a year and i'm getting quite comfortable working with it.

But the GoAutoDial interface looks rather nice.

1) Interface is COOL. (Agent Screen)

2) Interface is COOL. (GoAutoDial wrapper that allows some controls at the system level such as changing the ip address)

3) Redhat-based (GoAutoDial is the only CentOS method of installation available that is reliable, those requiring Redhat/CentOS have no other truly reliable method of installation)

BUT:

It is a version behind (GoAutoDial is at 2.2.1, whereas Vicidial is at 2.4 and quite stable although not released yet, which has many new cool toys). GoAutoDial can be upgraded to 2.4 via SVN, but the AGENT interface will revert to the standard Vicidial as the Cool one is not compatible yet.

CentOS is not supported by The Vicidial Group (they run this show), so you'd better have CentOS professional support or be prepared for a full reinstall should something go horribly wrong. Or just make sure you have Gardo on your team.

Thank you William,

What got me curious besides the fancier interface and the integrated sysadmin was
"GoAutoDial evolved from being more than just a Vicidial distribution. It's now a complete open source dialer system"

I can't find any "comparison chart" between the two - but there ought to be one.

LOL

There can't be one.

GoAutoDial is a wrapper for Vicidial. Any Dialer functions would therefore be identical.

But it is cool that he has built a wrapper that allows system modifications from a menu for the administrator. Vicibox requires command line access for this.
