Choose Packages in ISO?

During the ISO installation, can we choose to install everything but a specific package let's say like Asterisk?

I am looking to make my life easier by going the ISO route for installation of the vicidial suite because compiling from scratch and following that guide is too cumbersome.

What I want to do is install the Asterisk version that comes with GoAutoDial on my host machine and have VM's running on the host running Apache/Vicidial/MySQL from the GoAutoDial ISO.

Is there a way to separate out the components and choose what I want to install?

vicidial scripts MUST run on ALL dialers and web servers (they are not required on the mysql server).

if you want a solid idea of what is required for each server, you COULD try the vicibox 64 bit installation system which will allow you to build web / mysql / dialer / archive as all sep boxes and will install only necessary software on each. If you are doing this for TESTING purposes to find out where everything goes, you could probably do it in VMWare fairly well. (but limit yourself to a single call for testing to see if it all worked, as VMWare is NOT likely to allow more than one call).

i should probably mention that VMware installs of vicidial (to date) have not proven to be useful for anyone except perhaps a few strange single user souls, and will likely drop your system to 25% capacity (roughly).

There is no way yet to separate the components on installation. This actually defeats the purposes of having an easy to install system. What you can actually do is install GoAutoDial on each server/VMs and just disable the unneeded services (HTTPD, Mysql, Asterisk and etc).

that is how most of our systems have been set up. simpler. before the Vicibox system, of course, which allows selective installation. But that's recent and we don't have any clients who've installed with the multi-server Vicibox method yet.
