1) This should be in "general discussion" or "features" not in GoAutoDial, unless you want Gardo to write you a TTY add-on outside Vicidial? (I'm sure he'd be up for it if the $$ was right, just like we would!)
2) Define "Support TTY"? You want agents to be able to type to the clients in vicidial if a TTY answers instead of a human? Would this be something akin to the "bing" sound but a popup window instead for TTY?
As far as I know, there is no such puppy at present, but I'm pretty sure it could be handled as long as it's tied to a "live phone call" just like the present method.

Hi william
well I was going through this article and was weighing vicidials capabilities. Since I am not familiar with this device at all, I thought it may be good to ask the community if we could support it or if there was a way around until its supported as a feature. A way around like sending tty inbound call to another device or something. Not sure

as i am unfamiliar ... clue me in on whether ASTERISK is TTY capable?

I guess I myself am clueless about what exactly I was asking but I will try my best. I think what I am asking is if the device to decode tty signaling is purchased and is put in the facility as stand-alone device with couple of PSTNs attached to it, I guess we can transfer the call to that device. But I guess the problem here would be for goauto dial would be to recognize that specific signal and then transfer it to tty device.

which brings me back to:
1) GoAutoDial doesn't do anything except install Vicidial. It's not software, it's an installer/wrapper for Vicidial.
2) Vicidial doesn't "detect" anything either, as this is an asterisk function ... the ability to detect a specific type of phone signal is not something built into Vicidial (Vicidial uses a package called AMD to detect Answering machines for instance). But if ASTERISK can detect TTY, then vicidial can be trained to accept that information from asterisk and respond accordingly.
3) Would it not be simpler to use a specific inbound DID to transfer to an InGroup which has agents on TTY devices already? (for inbound) and for outbound it would be fairly simple to have the agents who hear TTY tones (whatever those sound like) transfer the call to a closer group with TTY devices on their phones?
If you want "detection" it must be handled in asterisk, so you'll need to research whether asterisk can perform this function or if there is an "add-on" that will. If you want TTY transfer ... you'll need to find out if there is an asterisk TTY soft phone or an add-on for PSTN is required.

William thanks. Sorry for being so vague about this, but I am also learning as I am researching
I found out that tdd mode of asterisk does support tty/tdd.
Here is some more info

give it a shot. in asterisk. we'll work out vicidial methodology after your asterisk capacity is demonstrated and documented.
