Hello,
I would like to report an error in the latest updates repository of Goautodial. Also, if you have any suggestions, please reply.
This is an error in updating Perl, basically a package conflict. You can see the entire log of the
yum update command here:
http://pastebin.com/npng8Fj4
I did a fresh install of Goautodial 2.0 from the ISO downloaded from
http://goautodialnow.com yesterday.

Transaction Check Error:

file /usr/share/man/man3/Switch.3pm.gz from install of perl-5.8.8-32.el5_5.2.i386 conflicts with file from package perl-Switch-2.14-1.el5.rf.noarch
GoAutoDial has only had one release, so downloading a fresh copy won't change anything.
You can try to edit the packages installed before or during your installation.
or you can install vicibox and wait for gardo to fix this (or wait a day and see if the repositories sort themselves out)

There would be no reason to upgrade the system, however I have observed on one of our servers that the memory utilization is so high that its leading to overlapped (cross connection) calls and active calls even when the agents are on pause. Re-installation of Goautodial has resolved this somehow but the memory utilization is still on the higher side. I read somewhere this is an issue with the Perl version which has a tendency to cause memory leaks. Anyway, that's a separate thread.
I would request Gardo to release a new version soon, that too with Vicidial 2.4 if possible.

2.4 isn't released yet, and gardo generally releases AFTER a major release, not during developer trunk. you CAN upgrade your install to 2.4 ... if you don't mind giving up the pretty screen. (or you can throw money at gardo and see if you can convince him to upgrade the screen NOW
)

Looks like a bug in the package perl-Switch. Try uninstall perl-Switch before doing the "yum upgrade". Then reinstall perl-Switch afterwards.

and if it works ... post your exact procedure so others can keep using goautodial until the centos guys get their act together again. LOL

I don't think I will try that on a production server, will do it on a new one I am planning to deploy next week.
I just feel that packages like Goautodial should be based out of simpler and more popular distributions like Ubuntu Server.

i don't think you understand what you are saying.
you just told BMW it should be based in detroit. LOL
the POINT of GoAutoDial's existence is that it is on CentOS simply because many facilities (for whatever reason) are required to use CentOS. Without GoAutoDial, they would have to scratch install to accomplish this. So it is unquestionably catering to a happy audience.
If you want a "popular" distro, you have to take into consideration that (while popular) it is necessary that the distro in question be stable enough to allow for continued vicidial installation without disruption in the code.
While Popular, Ubuntu apparently did not prove stable enough (from the standpoint of NOT requiring changes to the Vicidial Installation regularly) by comparison to OpenSuSE.
OpenSuSE is a fairly popular distro, and oddly enough that is what Vicibox Redux is on.

Correct me if I am wrong, I am under the impression that Vicibox is based on Suse because its easier to package a distribution with Suse Studio.

Which is also what makes it popular.
There ARE packaging solutions for each distro available.
